PREREQUISITES FOR PMP CERTIFICATION TRAINING

If you’re seeking guidance on how to apply for the PMP certification through PMI in a step-by-step manner, simply follow these six steps:

  1. Begin by registering yourself on the official PMI website and providing the necessary credentials to create your profile.
  2. Next, participate in a 35-hour PMP certification training offered by a PMI Authorized Training Partner.
  3. While optional, we highly recommend considering this step: Apply for PMI membership to access special discounts when scheduling your exams.
  4. Within 90 days of registration, complete the online application and submit it. PMI typically takes 4-5 days to review and accept applications, and you’ll receive notification once accepted.
  5. Once your online application is approved, proceed with payment of the fees. This will allow you to progress to the final step.
  6. When you and your Solus Informatics’ mentor feel that you are fully prepared for the PMP exam, proceed to schedule the exam at a nearby test center.

Preparing for the PMP exam demands commitment and effort. Here are five recommended practices for your PMP Exam preparation:

To pass the PMP exam, you’ll encounter questions from these three domains:

  1. People (42%): Emphasizes the soft skills necessary for effective team leadership.
  2. Process (50%): Concentrates on the technical elements essential for project success.
  3. Business Environment (8%): Highlights the importance of aligning projects with organizational strategies and objectives.

The PMP certification exam comprises a total of 200 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Among these, examiners score only 175 questions, while the remaining 25 are pre-test questions that do not affect your final score. You have a time limit of 4 hours to complete the exam, providing ample time to answer each question without feeling rushed. Additionally, there is no penalty for incorrect answers, so it’s advisable to attempt every question to the best of your ability. Doing so significantly increases your chances of achieving a positive outcome in the exam.

The PMP exam lasts for 230 minutes. It covers 180 questions across three domains: People, Process, and Business Environment. The exam includes various question types such as multiple choice, multiple responses, matching, hot spot, and fill-in-the-blank. Online exam participants are given two 10-minute breaks, whereas in-person exam takers do not have scheduled breaks.

PMI relies on subject matter experts to establish the passing score for the exam annually. There is no definitive way of determining the precise score required to pass the PMP exam.
